PV-use SiC boats

PV-use SiC boats serve as the carriers responsible for moving silicon wafers into the furnace tubes used for high-temperature processing. Their primary function is to ensure that the silicon wafer maintains a stable position and spacing during the process to avoid mutual contact or damage. In the production of PV cells, silicon wafers need to undergo high-temperature treatment. Thus, high-quality PV-use SiC boats are vital important components for maintaining the quality and efficiency of the production process during silicon wafer production.

Semicorex PV-use SiC boats own multiple performance advantages, and can meet the demanding requirements of high-temperature working environments. Thanks for its superior thermal stability, PV-use SiC boats operate reliably at 1350°C–1600°C for extended periods and can withstand short-term temperatures of up to 1800°C. This makes them perfectly suited for high-temperature PV manufacturing steps (e.g., LPCVD, diffusion, annealing), where they ensure silicon wafers remain stable—preventing deformation or damage caused by extreme or fluctuating temperatures. 

Crafted from premium silicon carbide, the wafer boats possess an exceptionally low coefficient of thermal expansion. This key property allows it to withstand sudden temperature fluctuations, which in turn reduces thermal stress-induced damage to its structure. As a result, the boat is effectively protected against cracking or breaking due to thermal shock, ultimately extending its operational lifespan.

Silicon carbide material features high purity and low impurity content, avoiding secondary contamination of silicon wafers. Thus, the boats meet the stringent cleanliness requirements of photovoltaic cell manufacturing and helps improve cell conversion efficiency and yield.

Each PV-use SiC boat has the capacity to carry dozens to hundreds of silicon wafers. Thanks to its high structural strength, the average service life of these silicon carbide boats is 5-10 times that of traditional quartz boats. This exceptionally long service life significantly reduces the frequency of equipment replacement, thereby lowering overall production costs for photovoltaic manufacturers.
