Semiconductors are materials that guide electrical properties between conductors and insulators, with equal probability of loss and gain of electrons in the outermost layer of the atomic nucleus, and are easily made into PN junctions. Such as "silicon (Si)", "germanium (Ge)" and other materials.

In the high voltage field, particularly for high-voltage devices above 20,000V, the SiC epitaxial technology still faces several challenges. Gallium oxide (Ga2O3) as an "ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor" material has garnered sustained attention. Ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors fall under the category of "fourth-generation semiconductors," and in comparison to third-generation semiconductors such as silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN), gallium oxide boasts a bandgap width of 4.9eV, surpassing silicon carbide's 3.2eV and gallium nitride's 3.39eV. A wider bandgap implies that electrons require more energy to transition from the valence band to the conduction band, endowing gallium oxide with characteristics like high voltage resistance, high-temperature tolerance, high power capability, and radiation resistance.

In traditional silicon power device fabrication, high-temperature diffusion and ion implantation stand as the primary methods for dopant control, each with its advantages and disadvantages. Typically, high-temperature diffusion is characterized by its simplicity, cost-effectiveness, isotropic dopant distribution profiles, and lower introduction of lattice damage. Conversely, ion implantation, though complex and costly, enables precise independent control over dopant concentration and depth but introduces a significant number of point defects and extended defects into the substrate.

As a third-generation semiconductor material, Gallium Nitride is often compared with Silicon Carbide. Gallium Nitride still demonstrates its superiority with its large bandgap, high breakdown voltage, high thermal conductivity, high saturated electron drift velocity and strong radiation resistance. But it is undeniable that, like Silicon Carbide, Gallium Nitride also has various technical difficulties.

Single crystal silicon and polycrystalline silicon each have their own unique advantages and applicable scenarios. Single crystal silicon is suitable for high-performance electronic products and microelectronics due to its excellent electrical and mechanical properties. Polycrystalline silicon, on the other hand, dominates the field of solar cells due to its low cost and good photoelectric conversion efficiency.
